About the Flag

In the website of the Afghan Red Crescent Society (http://arcs.org.af), you can see the emblem of the Society, the explanation of the symbol (http://arcs.org.af/en/page/228), and you can see the flag of this Society in several images of the "Image Gallery" (http://arcs.org.af/en/ImageGallery).

The emblem of the National Society is the sign of its recognition. This emblem is used during the peace time as an indicative and during the situation of conflict or disasters as a protective tool, which introduces the national society among the community. And based on ethnic, racial and political enmity, any groups or persons do not attack its staff and volunteers who are under protection of the emblem. The emblem of the National Society which is made of white ground and red crescent inside the circles, shows that it is always pro peace and friendship among the communities and preserving impartiality and neutrality, it has no other aim, but to assist the most needy people within the possibility. There are two kinds of using this emblem: 1- Protective 2- indicative Protective: The protective emblem is bigger than indicative one and during the conflict situation if needed is used upon the National Society's buildings, establishments such as clinics, hospitals, offices, centres, convoys of aid materials, ambulances and other establishments of the national society for the purpose of protection. Indicative: The Indicative emblem is smaller than the protective one and for the identification is used by the ARCS staff, volunteers and members while they are on duty. But, the misuse and abuse of the emblem of the National Society by the private clinics, pharmacies, vehicles, governmental and non-governmental organizations or offices is not authorized. Misusing or abusing the emblem of the National Society; is a high treason to the fundamental principles and conventions of the international Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and statute of the National Society.
