"Nahuel Rowing Club" (NRC) was founded on 9 June 1916 in Tigre,
Province of Buenos Aires, as "Nacional Rowing Club". The name of the
club had to be changed In 1937 when the Argentine government forbid
private institutions to use the epithet "national". Walter Latte
proposed to rename the club "Nahuel Rowing Club", preserving the
original initials of the club; "nahuel" is the Mapuche name of the
tiger, alluding to the name of the town (Tigre) where the club is based.

The burgee of NRC, as shown graphically on the club badge, is
vertically divided white-blue-white with the letters N, R, C,
countercoloured and placed in the respective stripes of the burgee.
