Coat of arms of Derventa - Image by Željko Heimer, 22 January 2013
The coat of arms of Derventa is prescribed by the Municipal Statutes Statut opštine Derventa (text), adopted by the Municipal Council on 24 June 2005 and published in the official Municipal gazette Službeni glasnik opštine Derventa, although it might have been adopted a decade earlier.
The description is nearly the same as for the previous coat of arms, except that the star was replaced with a new emblem. The emblem is no longer named a "coat of arms", but, simply, a "symbol". The hands are now explained simply as symbols of the "unity of the people" while the star is replaced with "the coat of arms of arms of the Nemanjić (dynasty)", that is, the coat of arms of Republika Srpska. The mountain is named Motajnica and the river Ukrina. It is still stated that all the symbols are represented in gold, however, the coat of arms of Republika Srpska is shown in various representation either with a gold or a white eagle and a red shield.

The former coat of arms of Derventa is prescribed in Article 9 of the Municipal Statutes Statut opštine Derventa (text), adopted by the Municipal Council before 1990.
The Municipality has a coat of arms.
The coat of arms of the municipality of Derventa is a shield coloured as rotten cherry [as the shade is literally called literally, that is, maroon or burgundy] with five angles in which there are Socialist and self-governmental emblems of the municipality depicted with a five-pointed red star. In the central part of the coat of arms are the elements with double meaning - stylized hands touching their palms - the symbol of fraternity and unity [the ideological motto of Socialist Yugoslavia] of our nations and nationalities [again, in the terminology of Socialist Yugoslavia, meaning nations bearing the statehood and other minorities] and the mechanical wrench - the symbol of metalworking industry. In between are symbols of natural wealth of the municipality depicted with the symbol of a mountain, rivers and fruits depicted with a bunch of grapes. In the wrist of the stylized hands is a book - the symbol of cultural development. The meaning of these symbols is enhanced with a flame as a symbol of eternity. On the left and right from the bottom to the half of the central part of the shield it is encircled with leaves - symbols of the agricultural and wood wealth. In the top part of the shield is a ribbon of canvas, in which it is inscribed "Derventa" - the symbol of textile industry as the initial branch of industrial development, and the inscription designates the name of the municipality, all elements of the coat of arms are golden.
