The City of Lovech, capital of the province of Lovech. A purple flag bearing the so-called coat of arms in gold. Maybe the flag was adopted when the Ordinance # 149 of 19 December 1996 about the Symbols of the City of Lovech was issued. The emblem was designed by Tosho Mihaylov and was adopted during the communist regime. The colour of the flag (in this case lilac) was chosen because the nickname of Lovech is The City of Lilacs.
