Widdin

[Flag of Widdin] image by Eugene Ipavec, 21 December 2007

The 98th flag mentioned and illustrated in the Book of All Kingdoms is attributed to Vecina, which is identified as Widdin, also known as Vidin, in current NW Bulgaria, a a white with four red squares placed 2+2 forming a thin white cross, in the ogival default shape of this source. The anonymous author of Book of All Kingdoms describes the flag thus: "ha por señales un pendón blanco con estas señales bermejas." (="It has a white flag with four red squares.") According to [f0f12] (#83 on plate 17 between p.52-53), the manuscript "S" [f0fXXs] shows this flag.
