About the Flag of Jaragua do Sul

According to the municipal website, the cross-shaped white area of the flag "represents the Christian beliefs of the people. The red represents the fire that burns in the furnaces of our industries. The green represents our forests and agriculture, as well as the hope of our people. The coat of arms on the center of the cross represents the municipal government and the capital city of the municipality." On the coat of arms, "The mural crown of five towers represents the greatness of the city. The cross that divides the shield recalls the Christian faith." On the first quarter is a valley surrounded by mountains and crossed by rivers, with a star representing the city as seat of the municipality. In the second quarter, a settler with a hoe on his shoulder is intended to represent labor and agricultural riches while, in the third is a representation of the municipal industrial park. The fourth quarter has a lion from the Belgian arms and an eagle from the arms of Prussia, paying homage to the homelands of the founder of the municipality and the first setters.
The original legislation on the flag is Law No. 221 of 14 October 1969 and on the coat of arms Law No. 206 of 29 November 1968.
