The flag of Rio do Sul was instituted on 15 October 1960. It was designed
on commission by the artist H. Steiner of Rio de Janeiro. The proportions
are the same as for the national flag, 14:20. The flag is divided into
three horizontal stripes, green, blue, and yellow, colors taken from the
national flag. On the center, inside an outlined white lozenge (presumably
also based on the national flag), are the five yellow stars of the
constellation of the Southern Cross (Cruzeiro do Sul).
