Iacri was founded in the beginning of the 20th century by the "Lélio
Piza & Irmãos" company, owner of the Goataporanga Estate located on
the left bank of river Aguapeí. The Italian immigrant Silvio de
Giulli (1880-1946) purchased in 1933 the land located along the
railway, where he successfully grew cotton. The town, founded on 21
June 1933, was first named Juliana, Giulli's surname, a name soon
changed by Giulli himself to Jacri, referring to a famous local cacique.
The municipality of Iacri was established on 18 February 1959,
seceding from Tupã, and inaugurated on 1 January 1960.
