Description of the flag

The flag of Newell County features a pheasant atop a map of the county in a wheat wreath.
Darrell Neuman, 19 July 2011

The flag of the County of Newell No.4, Alberta as shown above shows a wrong detail. The pheasant is facing left, but it should face right. From the county administration I received two documents - one from June 1980 with description of the "County Crest" with a poor sketch of it and indeed in that document the pheasant faces left. Two months later in August 1980 was adopted the Amendment of the previous document, because the colors of the crest were mistakenly adopted and now they were adopted as they should be. However, in this document nothing is said about the pheasant. I also received colored version of the county crest with pheasant faced right. Also on the county website crests are shown with pheasant faced right.

The image above was received as a photograph of an actual flag. It was converted to .gif format, but not changed otherwise, so at least one actual flag has the pheasant facing the hoist. The text and map on the flag are correctly arranged. Vanya is correct that the county appears to use a version with the pheasant facing right now (e.g., https://newell.civicweb.net/Documents/DocumentList.aspx?ID=1310).
