Description of the crest on flag:
"The City crest is used on stationery from
the Mayor and Councillors. Printed in blue and orange, the crest is symbolic of
the industries and development that have prospered in Mississauga.
The
Crest depicts the "story of Mississauga" through its various illustrations. The
water wheel and lighthouse represent the communities of Streetsville and Port
Credit which joined with Mississauga to form our current City. The wheat reminds
us of our agricultural roots. The wings represent the aviation industry, and the
gear represents Mississauga's industry. The laurel leaves depicted under the
shield represent honour and distinction."
