The town of Macklin, Saskatchewan, is located 70 km South of Lloydminster near the provincial boundary with Alberta. This town derives its name from the journalist T.C. McCallum with the Winnipeg Free Press. In keeping with tradition, streets in this town are named after famous Canadian journalists.
The municipal flag of Macklin features three grain elevators with
their images reflected in a small body of water. On this flag, a small
flock of birds are flying up above grain fields towards a sunrise
which perhaps is intended to represent the bright economic prospects
for this community of about 1,300 people.
