disappeared. I would suggest to present first the parties still active
or with historical significance.
Updated information on the parties and their current status is
available at the Electoral Supreme Court website.
Most flags presented on this page are based on information retrieved
from the Electoral Supreme Court website. However, the website shows
the emblems and not the flags.

Partido Auténtico Herediano (Heredian Authentic
Party) is from Heredia.
"Spanish" flag with bold party's name in black on the
yellow stripe. Party founded on July, 25, 2002.

Registered (Heredia) on 6 May 2004 and cancelled on 18 March 2010. The party
was presided by José Francisco Salas Ramos.
The flag of PAH is horizontally divided red-yellow-red (1:2:1) with the name of
the party written in black capital letters, on two lines, on the yellow stripe.

The colours of the flag caused a dispute between PAH and PAC (Partido Acción
Ciudadana), which complained in 2005 at the Electoral Supreme Court for the use
"its own" red and yellow colours by PAH.. By Resolution No. 942, the Court
stated that the two parties would be allowed to use the same colours, but with
different shades, lighter for PAC and brighter for PAH.

party's flag as horizontally divided blue-green, with a red triangle placed

Three Party) is from Cartago.
Yellow flag with bold inscription "P.I.P 3" in blue
with "I" lower and "3" higher then the rest

Partido Movimiento de Trabajadores y Campesinos (Movement of
Workers and Farmers Party) is from Limón
Province. Horizontal triband (~1:2:1) of yellow-red-green with
white fist and party initials on the red stripe.

Resolution No. 96 of 14 July 2005.
According to Article 1 of the party's Statutes, last amended in May 2005, "The
sole acronym of the party is 'MTC'. The emblem of the party is a flag made of a
yellow stripe in upper part and a green stripe in lower part. In the middle, a
red stripe of twice the height of any other. On the middle stripe is placed a
white fist with the capital letters 'MTC'."

Partido Nueva Liga Feminista (New Feminist League Party) is
from San José. Horizontal triband of
green-blue-yellow.

Registered (San José) on 31 August 2005 and cancelled on 25 March 2010. The
party was presided by Ana Felicia Torres Redondo.
The flag of PNLF is horizontally divided green-purple-yellow. The upper, green
stripe evokes growth, social balance and aspiration. The middle, purple stripe
represents profoundness, knowledge and idealism. The lower, yellow stripe
represents creativity and joy.

Partido Restauración Herediana (PRH) was founded on 9 August 2008 and
registered (Heredia) by Resolution No. 45 of 10 July 2009.
According to Article 1 of the party's Statutes, "The emblem of the party is a
rectangle in proportions 1:2, divided by a transversal line forming two
triangles, the upper yellow and the lower blue. In the middle is placed a red
map of the Heredia Province."

Partido Restauración Nacional (National Restoration Party) is
from San José. Yelloe/Beige (?)

Still active. Founded on 5 February 2005 and registered (San José) by
Resolution No. 92 of 8 July 2005. The party won one out of the 57 seats at the
Chamber of Deputies in 2006 and 2010.
The party announced in May 2013 that it was about to register at the national
level - which is not confirmed yet by the website of the Supreme Electoral
Court.

20 of 17 March 2012, "The emblem of the party is a yellow rectangle. In the
right border is placed a blue sun, made of a circular line surrounded by seven
right strokes representing the rays."

Partido Transparencia Cartaginés (PTC) was
founded on 31 May 2008 and registered (Cartago) by Resolution No. 51 of 16 July
2009.
According to Article 2 of the party's Statutes, "The emblem of the party is a
rectangle in proportions 1:2, divided in two horizontal stripes, the upper lemon
green and the lower blue. In the middle is placed a white star representing
Cartago Central Canton."

Partido Unión Agrícola Cartaginés (Cartaginese Agricultural
Union Party), a regional party from Costa Rica. The flag is
triangular, with three horizontal stripes of purple, white and
greenish blue. It got 0,5% in the 1998 elections (4,3% in
Cartago) and elected nobody to the parliament.

Still active. Founded on 23 June 1969 and registered (Cartago) by Resolution
of 28 July 1969.
The most famous member of the party was Juan Guillermo Brenes Castillo
"Cachimbal" (1924-2011), elected at the Chamber of Deputies in 1958 (for Partido
Independiente), and in 1974, 1986 and 1990, for Unión Agrícola Cartaginés.
According to Article 2 of the party's Statutes, last amended on 23
July 2005, "The party has for emblem and political colour a triangle-shaped flag horizontally divided, from top to bottom,
"guaria", white
and blue." ("guaria" refers to the purple colour of the national flower of Costa
Rica, "guaria morada", known to botanists as the epiphyte orchid "Guarianthe skinneri" (Bateman) Dressler & W.E. Higgins, formerly known
as "Cattleya skinneri" Bateman.)

Still active, now listed as Partido Verde. Founded on 11 November 2004 and
registered (Cartago) by Resolution No. 109 of 27 July 2005.
According to Article 2 of the party's Statutes, last amended by Resolution No.
27 of 19 August 2012, "The emblem is made of a rectangular flag in proportions
1:2, divided into two horizontal stripes; the upper stripe is celeste blue
(Pantone Cyan CVU) while the lower stripe is green (Pantone 339 CVU. In the
middle is a white oval charged with a keel-billed toucan ("Ramphastos
sulfuratus")".
