Jarig Bakker, 3 Jul 2001

Flag and Coat of Arms were designed by Mr.Zdeněk Velebný from Ústí nad Orlicí. By its creation he was working with arms of landlords - Lords of Kunštát and Jevišovice (Black bars). This Family hold Únanov for almost 300 Years and died out (last man of the family) in 1587. Author used also atributes of St.Prokopius, Patron Saint of local church - most important historical monument in community. These atributes are crozier with chained devil. Last motive - heart with flowers - is taken from historical seal from the year 1640. For heraldic reasons it is red on silver background.
Piece of chain on the flag is derivation of central motive - St. Prokopius atribute.
Short history of community symbols:
14th of October 1998 - community council had decided to manage a proposal for symbolů
30th of June 1999 - community representation appproved the project of Arms and Flag
14th of January 2000 - By Chairman's of Parliament Decission Nr.47 were Flag and Arms for Únanov granted...

Note: Lords of Kunštát and Jevišovice were relatives of Lords of Poděbrady, they had same Arms. This Coat of Arms is repeated by armorial Banner of Vizovice town, okres Zlín. This Arms are in fact "Per fess Sable and Argent, two bars ofthe second in the Chief", but who knows why our historians are describing it "Silver shield with three black bars in upper part")
