Böblingen Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a golden (= yellow) shield is a red gonfanon.
Meaning:
Böblingen gained city rights in the middle of the 13th century. The oldest known seal from about 1300 already shows the gonfanon of the Palatine Counts of Tübingen, the former rulers. When the city became part of Württemberg in 1357, the arms remained the same. The colours are known from a painting since 1535. The current version was fixed in 1953, based on the works of Sibmacher (1605) and Hupp.
