approved 2 August 1974

Description of banner
Black-white-yellow with the arms. Probably another unofficial flag. The colours of Balingen, the capital of the county, are the same. Sources: Falko Schmidt, arms from Bardua 1987.

From Ralf Hartemink's International Civic Arms website:

The arms were granted on August 2, 1974. The arms combine the arms of the former States of Württemberg (antlers) and Hohenzollern (quarters). With only a few exceptions, the whole county belonged historically to either one of these States.

Literature: Heinz Bardua: "Die Kreis- und Gemeindewappen im Regierungsbezirk Stuttgart" (County and Municipal Arms in the Stuttgart District), Theiss, Stuttgart, 1987.
