Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per fess, the upper half is divided per pale. Above right in a golden (= yellow) field is a black, rampant lion, armed and tongued red. Above left the silver (= white) field is divided by a black, centred cross. In the blue field below are six silver (= white) heart shaped leaves of a water lily ordered 3:2:1.
Meaning:
According to source the lion is taken from the arms of the Dukes of Jülich, the cross from the Archbishopric and Electorate of Köln. The water lily leaves are the old arms of the municipality.
