The flag's ratio is 3:5. The white flag is divided by a broad, red horizontal stripe. The coat of arms is in the centre of the flag.

Description of coat of arms:
In a silver (=white) shield is a red, prancing horse. The colours are the inverted colours of the Lower Saxonian coat of arms.
Meaning:
According to source the Frisian inhabitants of Östringen in the early middle ages had been famous for horse breeding. Horses from Östringen even wer exported to France. The red horse is wonder horse, that lived in the monastery of Östringfelde in the early 17th century.

The coat of arms was approved by Lower Saxonian minister of interior in 1949. Before it had been the coat of arms of the dissolved municipality of Östringen. The flag was approved in 1955.
