Description of coat of arms:
The golden (=yellow) shield has a green base divided by a silver (=white) wavy line. In the golden field is a black oak tree having green leaves and fruit. Besides the tree on the dexter side is a silver (=white) inescutcheon showing a gestürzt blue plough share. On the sinister side is silver (=white) inescutcheon showing a red, rampant, double queued lion, armed and crowned blue.
Meaning:
The plough share is symbolizing the historical importance of agriculture in this region, which had been industrialized very late. The lion is taken from the arms of the counts of Berg. The wvy line is symbolizing the Waldbröl creek, which has its source near Escherhof, which finally disembogues into river Sieg. It is understood, that "Bröl" has the meaning of swamp, therefore "Waldbröl" might have the meaning of swamp in the forest.
