Description of coat of arms:
In a golden (= yellow) field is a black bull's head, armed silver (=white), tongued red and crowned golden (=yellow).
Meaning:
According to source the arms are symbolizing that the city belonged to the lordship of Werle-Güstrow.

The flag was adopted on the 700-years anniversary in May 1998. Flag and coat of arms were approved by minister of interior of Mecklenburg-Westpomerania on 8 May 1998, published in the roll of arms of Mecklenburg-Westpomerania as no. 0157.
