Heppenheim is twinned with the French town of Le Chesnay, located near
Versailles. In the late 1980, the municipal flag of Le Chesnay (green with
the municipal coat of arms in the middle) and the flag of Heppenheim (horizontal
version) were flown permanently, along with the French national flag, on
the rond-point d'Heppenheim (Heppenheim rotunda). The hoisting of
the flag seems to have disappeared in the early 1990s, probably after a
change in the municipal administration, and the three flag poles have remained
sadly empty since then.
