Description of coat of arms
In a red shield above is a golden (=yellow) statant lion; below is a silver (=white) trefoil seeded red.
Meaning:
The lion is symbolizing the Welfen kin, the former rulers. The trefoil probably is a modification of that one appearing in the arms of the city Hannover.
