Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per bend sinister into blue over gold (= yellow). Above is a barry demi-lion issuant, striped of silver (= white) and red. Below is a black 8-point star.
Meaning:
The arms were approveded on 21 June 21 1974. The arms combine the lion of Hesse, which was part of the arms of Frankenberg, with the 8-point star of
Waldeck.
