Description of coat of arms:
In a golden (= yellow) shield are two black prior staffs crossed per saltire.
Meaning:
The colours of banner and arms are those of Baden-Württemberg. The symbol is known from border stones since 1677. Due to a suggestion of the Archive Directorate in Stuttgart it was adopted by the municipality in 1931. The Backnang Abbey had the church patronage over Benningen since 1453. The symbol appears also on other former properties of the abbey. Be fore 1931 the staffs had been misinterpreted as a pair of scissors and had been depicted that way on local seals.

The banner was approved on 20 May 1980 by the county administration, published in GABl 399/1964. The coat of arms was adopted by the local council on 2 February 1931.
