Description of coat of arms:
In a golden (= yellow) shield is a red, statant lion, crowned and tongued blue. His paws are upon the peaks of a quadruple mount. The lion is topped by a black antler being based on the sinister side.
Meaning:
The crowned lion is taken from the arms of the Counts of Calw-Löwenstein. The counts of Vaihingen formed a younger branch line. The counts sold Vaihingen, which gained city rights around 1250, to the Counts of Württemberg, symbolized by the antler, in 1339. The arms must be younger than 1535. In this year King Karl V granted similar arms to the Counts of Calw. The quadruple mount is a differentiation of the triple mount in the arms of Calw. Stadler also confirms the colours mentioned above.
