Description of flag:
It is a blue over yellow over white horizontal tricolour. The coat of arms is in the centre of the flag.

Leer County Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a blue shield is a silver (= white), rampant lion, armed golden (= yellow) and tongued red. Around his neck is an upside down golden (= yellow) coronet. The shield is topped by a golden (= yellow) quatrefoil flanked by six ears of grain of the same colour.
Meaning:
The lion is the lion of the Ukena kin. Focko Ukena was the first calling himself chieftain of Leer. Around 1400 he established his power in the areas of Moormerland, Overledingerland, Uplengen and Rheiderland, nowadays all being parts of Leer County. The crest is symbolizing the regions of the county and agriculture as main business line. The elements of the arms of Weener County, which had been incorporated in 1932, had no influence to the current arms.

The flag was approved on 3 Oct 1977. The coat of arms was approved on 12 August 1952 by minister of interior of Lower Saxony.
