Description of coat of arms:
It is an elaborate shield, fimbriated golden at the top. The silver field is divided by a red fess wavy. Above is the bust of a blue heron, armed red and holding a blue fish in his beak. Below is a green rowing boat superimposed by two oars of the same colour, crossed per saltire.
Meaning:
In 1951 the municipalities of Rottach and Egern merged. The fess wavy is a canting element of Rottach and also symbolizing Rote Ache, a creek with "reddish" waters. The heron's bust is taken from the arms of the Stöckl family, owner of large estates in Rottach and the Tegernsee area, especially owner of Sedelhof estate in Rottach from 1275 to 1523. Numerous heron's existed on the shores of Tegernsee until the 19th century. The boat is representing Egern, is alluding to the Tegernsee in general and also to a former ferry boat.
