flag adopted: 1996 ?
inhabitants: 2,351
The inhabitants of the village (Dorf) of Grossmaischeid decided in early summer 1996 to design a flag based on the village arms. The flag was designed in collaboration with the flag manufacturer Bonner Fahnenfabrik. The flag was released for the village fair in 1996 and widely used next year for the celebration of the 850th anniversary of the village foundation. The flag is now used for every festivity, including the private ones. The flag was so successful that the first and second releases of flags and masts were exhausted before acknowledging all requests, thus motivating a third release.
The flag is a vertical banner with proportion 2:1, vertically divided blue-white. The shield of arms is placed near the top of the flag, with the [unfortunate] mention of the village name in the shield chief. The shield is outlined in black, as well as its chief and vertical division. The inner elements of the shield are not outlined.
