Description of coat of arms:
It is a red shield bearing a silver (= white) nettle leaf. The nettle leaf is superimposed by a black millwheel over a blue fess wavy.
Meaning:
The colours, except black, are those of Schleswig-Holstein. The nettle leaf is symbolizing the affiliation with Holstein. The fess wavy is symbolizing the Glinder Au, a local creek. The wheel is symbolizing a watermill, which had been used first as a cornmill and afterwards as a churning mill. The mill had great economic importance in the past.
