Description of coat of arms:
In a golden (= yellow) field is a green, rooted tree above a blue fess wavy.
Meaning:
The tree is a canting element, derived from the Slavic word of "beech" (although the tree looks like an ash tree). The arms are based upon a seal. The fess wavy is symbolizing the Grube Lake, which had been a small bight of the Baltic Sea in former centuries. The yellow colour is symbolizing the prosperity gained by sea trade. The inscription on the seal "sigillum civitatis grobe" proves that Grube must have had city rights at least since 1323, which however got lost in the 15th century.

The flag was approved on 27 July 2001. The coat of arms was approved on 31 December 1938. The artists are Gustav Adolf Cloß and Lothar Leissner.
