Adopted 29 NOvember1989, according to Dirk Schönberger's Administrative Divisions of the World website. From Ralf Hartemink's International Civic Arms website:

The arms were granted on 16 August 1976. The four lozenges symbolise the four historical territories: Schwarzwald, Heckengäu, Kraichgau and Stromberg. The wavy bar symbolizes the Enz river.
Literature: Stadler 1964-1972 [and Linder and Olzog 1996?].
