Gernsbach Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a silver (= white) shield are two dark blue wolf traps crossed per saltire. They are topped by a red, heraldic rose, barbed black and seeded blue.
Meaning:
Gernsbach probably was a city already in 1250. It was the seat of the Counts of Eberstein. The rose is alluding to the counts. The wolf traps since the 19th century replaced two boathooks, later an axe and boathook. Gernsbach had been a centre of timber rafting and was the city of the raftsmen on Murg River since 1488.

The colours of the banner were fixed in 1925. The current coat of arms was confirmed in 1898.
