The double crenelly line is taken from the seal of Sigridus Dosenrode, manorial lord of Osterrade, dated 1366. The Bronze Age bowl was found in a grave and is a proof of early settlements in the area. The chalice from 1630 had been endowed by Benedict und Christina von Ahlefeld, owners of Osterrade and indicates the importance of Bovenau as a parochial village.
