The county uses an unofficial flag which is white with the coat-of-arms in the centre.

The old coat of arms of Regen County was approved on 30 June 1960. The lozenges in the chief are representing both, the Counts of Bogen and their successors of the Wittelsbach kin, as Dukes - and later Kings - of Bavaria. The lozenges were already used by the Counts of Bogen, who ruled a large part of the county in the 13th century. The fir tree is symbolizing the Bavarian Forest (Bayrischer Wald). The glass is representing the numerous glass kilns in the area. Niederalteich Abbey in the old arms is represented by the basic colours green and gold.

The coat of arms of former Viechtach County was approved on 13 September 1961. The shield was divided by a blue - silver (= white) bendy-paly (some call it lozengy) pale. The dexter side displays in a red field a silver (= white), embattled tower, masoned black and with port and windows black. The sinister side displays in silver (= white) field a green fir tree on top of a triple mount of the same colour. The central pale is alluding to the "Pale", a local rocky reef and a famous landmark. The lozenges in this case are not representing the Wittelsbach kin but the Lords of Nußberg instead. The triple mount is taken from the arms of the Benedictine Abbey of Niederalteich, established in 741. The fir tree is symbolizing forestal riches.

The new coat of arms of Regen County was approved on 9 July 1975.The new arms combine elements of the arms of the former counties of Regen and Viechtach.The central part shows a canting eradicated fir tree (German: Fichte), which is also symbolizing forestal riches and is the connecting element of both former arms. The silver (= white) tower in a red field on the sinister side is a symbol for the numerous castles and is representing former Viechtach county. The glass is representing the numerous glass kilns in the area and here also the former Regen County.
