Description of coat of arms:
The black shield is divided by a broad silver (= white) bar.
Meaning:
Waldsee gained city rights in 1298 and was until 1331 a possession of the Lords of Waldsee. In 1331 they sold city and castle to the Habsburg family. In 1956 the city gained the title of a spa and the prefix "Bad".The oldest known seal of the city from 1520 displays the arms of the Lords of Waldsee. In the extended or "greater" arms the shield is accompanied by a fish, placed paly, on the dexter side and an oar, sometimes interpreted as a grain shovel, on the sinister side. Above the shield is a, sometimes facetted, 6-point star.
