Düdenbüttel Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per fess. In a blue field is a silver(=white) rider on a silver(=white) horse, facing the dexter side. The base is silver(=white) with three red flames(=gyrons).
Meaning:
In the year 1764 the village suffered under a heavy firestorm, which left only five houses. A legend tells, that a rider on a white horse came from the direction of Stade. He stopped, looked at the fire, surrounded it once and cried with a mighty voice: "Not further than here!". He turned his horse and rode back without looking at the fire again. Then the fire indeed didn't extend any further. For this reason a special service was held in the local church until 1901.
