Description of flag:
The ratio is 3:5. It is a blue over yellow horizontal bicolour. The municipal coat of arms is shifted to the top that way, that the upper edge of the base is straight upon the borderline of both stripes.
Klaus-Michael Schneider, 14 Dec 2012
Description of coat of arms:
In a golden (= yellow) field is a blue kite. On the blue base is a golden panicle of oat.
Meaning:
The division of the shield is symbolizing the former municipalities of Großenwiehe und Schobüll, which had been united in 1970. The bird of prey is considered to be canting, as "wiehe" is said to be "Weihe", i.e. a kite. But that's an equivocation, because the name is derived from Old Danish "wighæ", which is a fortification. The panicle is symbolizing agriculture as main business line. The colours are those of the county and of the former duchy of Schleswig.

The bridge on the shield is representing the numerous bridges of the municipality. The eight peaks are symbolizing the current number of local bridges. Note the extremely accurate representation of the (canting) linden leaf and fruits.
In Germany, the three most common linden are the common linden (aka Dutch linden), Tilia x vulgaris Hayne (= T. intermedia DC.), the big-leaved linden T. platyphyllos Scop., and the small-leaved linden
T. cordata Miller (= T. ulmifolia Scop., T. parvifolia Ehrh.). The common linden is a hybrid between the two other linden species.
