    Wertheim Coat of Arms

    Description of coat of arms:
The coat of arms was generated in 1952. The shield is divided per fess. Above in a golden (= yellow) field is a black demi-eagle issuant, armed red. Below are three silver (= white) heraldic roses ordered 2:1 in a celestial blue field.
    Meaning:
The design was revised a somewhere after 1971. The eagle looks fiercer, slimmer and is also tongued red. The roses are in the new version seeded golden (= yellow). The golden colour on flag is the same like in the German Federal Flag. (The version 1952 shows, that says at least my wife, an eagle wearing boxing gloves). The demi-eagle is a reduction of the imperial eagle of the Holy Roman Empire. The roses are taken from the arms of the Counts of Wertheim. The arms are based upon seals. King Albrecht I granted city rights in 1306. The oldest seals is from 1316.
