Spaichingen Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a silver (= white) shield is a black demi wheel. The chief is divided per fess into silver (= white) over red.
Meaning:
The arms were granted in 1482 by Duke Sigismund of Württemberg. The demi wheel then had been golden. The chief displays the old arms of the County of Hohenberg, to which the town belonged until 1381, before it became a part of Württemberg. Spaichingen had also been the seat of the Upper Lordship of Hohenberg. The demi wheel is a canting element. The town's name is derived from Speiche, i.e. spoke. The arms were confirmed in 1490 by King Maximilian of Germany and since then have not changed. In 1828 the town gained city rights.

The coat of arms probably was adopted around 1828. The banner was in use at least since 1971.
