Coat of arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a silver (=white) shield is a black statant stag with golden (= yellow) antlers and covered by a red blanket divided by a silver (=white) indented line. Upon the base are four black wavy fesses.
Meaning:
According to source the stag is alluding to the Bodendieke family, who died out with the Baltic branch in 19th century. Bodenteich was the origin of the family, who erected a castle in the 13th century and sold it to the dukes of Lüneburg in 14th century. The wavy fesses are alluding to lake Bodenteich, today a mere swamp but a real lake in the middle ages.
