Description of coat of arms:
In a blue shield is a golden (= yellow) harrow.
Meaning:
In 1364 the Counts of Württemberg gained permission by Emperor Karl IV to grant the rank of a city to Laichingen but they didn't exercise this right. As a result there are not even seals before 1570. But the oldest seals already displayed the harrow, The reason was the importance of cultivating flax. In the 19th century the antler of Württemberg was added above the harrow, but in 1914 the old image was restored. The colours were fixed in 1922, after a windowpane from the 16th century had been discovered, displaying the coat of arms. Laichingen finally gained city rights in 1950. The colours of the banner were derived from the coat of arms.

The flag colours were first used by the local sports club and afterwards by the municipality.
