In a red field is a golden (=yellow) 19-point sun superimposed by a blue wavy fess and (above the fess) a red embattled, mural fragment having three pinnacles.
Meaning:
According to source sun and fess are canting. Sonsbeck is interpreted as sun near the creek. The mural fragment is symbolizing city rights, which had been gained in 1320 by count Dietrich of Kleve.
