Description of flag:
It is a yellow over white horizontal bicolour. The coat of arms is in the centre of the flag.

Description of coat of arms:
In a silver (= white) shield is a green inescutcheon surrounded by eight green oak leaves. The inescutcheon displays a golden (= yellow) axe and a sword of the same colour. They are crossed per saltire and their blades are silver (= white).
Meaning:
The inescutcheon is representing the municipality of Tostedt. The pattern is the same like that one on the chief of the arms of the municipality (details see below). Each leaf is representing one of the eight other municipalities. The colours of the sheet are the colours of the former Kingdom of Hannover.

Description of coat of arms:
In a silver (= white) shield is a green oak tree with golden (= yellow) acorns, standing on top of a green hill. The shield has a green chief displaying a golden (= yellow) axe and a sword of the same colour. They are crossed per saltire and their blades are silver (= white).
Meaning:
The oak is symbolizing the riches of forests in the Tot, a hilly ridge around Tostedt. The axe is symbolizing forest clearances in the Middle Ages. The sword is alluding to the fact that Tostedt had been seat of a court since 1625.

Klaus-Michael Schneider, 14 Oct 2007
(Editorial note: the information about the Hauptsatzung was confirmed by the municipality, but it was also told that no flag is in use; kms)
Description of banner:
It is a white banner with narrow blue stripes at the top- and bottom edge. In the centre is the coat of arms. It is surrounded by black inscriptions "1105-2005" (above) and "900 Jahre" (1st line) "Kakenstorf" (2nd line) (below).
Meaning:
The banner was made especially for the celebration of the 900 years anniversary, which took place in 2005. A municipal flag probably doesn't exist.

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is quartered into blue (1st and 4th field) and silver (= white) (2nd and 3rd field). The whole is superimposed by golden (= yellow) shelves with horseheads at their ends.
Meaning:
The colours blue and gold are taken from the arms of Harburg County and are symbolizing the close connections with the county. The shelves, which can be found on top the farmhouses' gables, are symbolizing the rural environment. The quarters allude to the fact that Kakenstorf belonged to the so called "four villages" (/Vierdörfer/) together with Drestedt, Trelde and Sprötze, which formed a municipality until 1900, when Kakenstorf became independent.
