Description of flag:
It is a blue over yellow horizontal bicolour. The coat of arms is in the centre of the flag.

Description of coat of arms:
In a golden (= yellow) shield are six lozenges. They are ordered in two sinister-bendy rows. The lozenges of the upper row are blue, those of the lower row black.
Meaning:
On 20 September 1975 the municipalities of Stetten and Rommelshausen merged. The name oft he new municipality was Stetten-Rommelshausen. The municipality was renamed on 1 January 1977 into Kernen im Remstal. The Kernen, a mountain in the Schurwald, was the name giver. The blue lozenges are taken from the arms of the Lords of Stetten, the black ones from the arms of the Dukes of Teck, in the past local rulers in Rommelshausen.
