Overview

On <www.explored.com.ec> you find information about the Ecuadorian provinces, including their flags and coat of arms. For Sucumbios is shown a flag in horizontal green-white-yellow, contrary to the Previously Reported Flag (blue, white, green).
Dirk Schonberger, 27 November 2000

The flag is shown, graphically, on the provincial website, as horizontally divided green-white-yellow. However, the flag shown behind Prefecto Darwin Lozada Cortès on a photography available on the provincial website is charged with the provincial coat of arms, which slightly overlaps the coloured stripes. The coat of arms is shown on the provincial website.

Sucumbíos is a province in the northern area of Ecuador, and belongs to Amazonica region. It was created on 11 Febuary 1989 out of Napo province. The capital is Nueva Loja. This flag is the same flag of Aran but in Ratio 1:2 (blue over white over green); it is also the reverse of the provincial flag of Galapagos.
Jaume Olle

The flag which I reported, was first reported by Prof. Restrepo Uribe who saw it hoisted in the main square of Quito and later reproduced in several vex bulletins. Then we can assume that the flag was changed later.
