Introduction

In the province of Alicante, there are several municipalities that have a monocoloured flag with the municipal coa in the center. The municipality of El Castell de Guadalest / Guadalest is located in the Province of Alacant (Alicante), in the comarca of Marina Baja, Valencian Community, Spain (15.97 km² and 217 hab., 2008). This is perhaps one of the most picturesque villages in Spain.

Escudo ibérico. En campo de azur, un castillo de oro, mazonado y aclarado de sable, acostado de dos llaves de plata puestas en palo; el castillo emerge de una montaña de su color, que descansa sobre olas de plata y azur. Al timbre, una corona real abierta." Resolución de 30 de septiembre de 1994, del conseller de Administración Pública. (DOGV núm. 2.392, de 22 de noviembre de 1994)

"Iberian shield. In a field azure, a castle or, masoned and apertured sable, bracketed by two silver keys per pale, the castle emerges from a mountain proper, which rests on waves of silver and azure. Surmounted by an open royal crown. Resolution of 30 September 1994, by the Regional Minister for Public Administration. (DOGV no. 2392 of 22 November 1994)"
