Symbols of Los Altos

The flag and arms of Los Altos are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 27 October 2002 by the Municipal Council, signed on 28 October 2002 by the Mayor, and published on 17 March 2003 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 52, pp. 3,942-3,943 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Quadrangular panel, with proportions 1:1, vertically divided into three equal parts. The central part, red with the municipal coat of arms in the middle, the two other parts white with four blue wavy horizontal stripes.
Coat of arms: Per pale, 1. Gules a dolmen argent over waves argent and azure, 2. Or, a tree proper eradicated terraced vert and surrounded by two wolves sable and two cauldrons sable a bordure demitiated dexter or five potato plants vert sinister or five saltires gules. [Crown not mentioned]

The symbols were first approved on 27 September 2002 by the Municipal Council, based on a memoir submitted on 24 September 2002 by the Instituto Borbone de Heráldica y Vexillología Municipal. The arms were designed from scratch, since no historical arms of the village have been found in the archives. However, Friar Valentín de la Cruz presents in Burgos, Heráldica Municipal a coat of arms for Los Altos as "Plain shield with a crenelled tower", without quoting his source.
