The municipality of Campillo de Aranda (200 inhabitants in 2010; 2,392 ha; unofficial blog) is located in the south of the Province of Burgos, 90 km of Burgos.
Ivan Sache, 31 March 2011
The flag of Campillo de Aranda is prescribed by a Decree adopted on 12 March 1998 by the Burgos Provincial Government, signed on 16 March 1998 by the President of the Government, and published on 31 March 1998 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 61 (text).
The flag is described as follows:
Flag: Quadrangular flag, made of three horizontal stripes, from top to bottom: green (2.5/10 of the hoist), gold (5/10 of the hoist), and blue (2.5/10 of the hoist). The yellow or gold stripe has in its first third the municipal coat of arms without ornaments, with a size of 3/10.
The Royal Academy of History stated that the proposed flag includes a
coat of arms not legally approved, which, therefore, should be
corrected.
[Boletín de la Real Academia de la Historia, 2000, 197, 2: 345]
The municipal coat of arms (photo, facade of the Town Hall) represents the elm once located on the village's square, today replaced by a privet, surrounded by the two ponds (charcas) of the village - a small one and a bigger one called "Charca Navajo".
