According to "El Periodico Mediterraneo," electronic edition of 3 December 2004, the city of Altura has a new flag and standard.
The designs unanimuously adopted by the Municipal Council on 18 December 2003 were approved by the Council of Heraldry and Vexillology. The flag has a "carmesi" (crimson) field with the municipal arms in the middle. The standard has a very similar design.
The Council of Heraldry and Vexillology must have been very busy, since it took them nearly one year to approve a basic design. :-)

The Resolution of 26 April 2005 (DOGV no.5008 of May 18, 2005) established the flag of Altura: "Flag of 2:3 proportions. Red field with the municipal arms in the middle."

The Resolution of 25 June 2002, by the Minister of Justice and Public Administration (DOGV no. 4317 of August 20, 2002), rehabilitated the historical arms of immemorial usage, a shield divided per pale: 1. Azure, a tower of gold, surmounted of a white flag; 2. Or, four bars gules. Surmounted overall by closed [sic] royal crown.
