Symbols of Vegas del Condado

The flag of Vegas de Condado (photo, Town Hall) is white with the municipal coat of arms in the middle.

The coat of arms of Vegas del Condado is prescribed by a Decree adopted on 30 April 1992 by the Government of Castilla y León and published on 14 May 1992 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 91 (text).
The coat of arms, which was amended as suggested by the Royal Academy of History, is described as follows:

Coat of arms: Quarterly, 1. Gules a castle or, 2. Green a sun or, 3. Azure two caldrons checky argent and gules a bordure ermine, 4. Gules a bridge argent over waves. The shield surmounted with the Spanish Royal crown.

Gules is a symbol of valor, audacity and intrepidity. The castle is a symbol of wealth, force, faith and constancy. It symbolizes the presence of the Marquis of Toral de los Guzmanes and the palace, of nothing has remained but the foundation, erected by the Guzmán.
Vert is a symbol of hope, abundance and liberty. The sun is represented as a human face, with eight straight rays and another eight wavy rays. The whole is a symbol of the fertility of the soil, of future and of hope.
Azure is a symbol of royalty, serenity and spirituality. Gules is a symbol of innocence. Argent is a symbol of candour. This quarter recalls the presence of the Guzmán in the Council of the County for a long part of the local history.
The three-arched bridge over three waves azure and two waves argent represents river Porma, which waters and fertilizes the municipality..
