Presentation of Alba de Cerrato

The municipality of Alba de Cerrato (101 inhabitants in 2010; 3,521 ha) is located 30 km from Palencia.
Alba de Cerrato was mentioned for the first time in 1035, when King Sancho the Great transferred the village to the Bishop of Palencia; the transfer was last confirmed in 1507 by Ferdinand I.

Symbols of Alba de Cerrato

The flag and arms of Alba de Cerrato are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 13 May 1996 by the Palencia Provincial Government, signed on 20 May 1996 by the President of the Government and published on 30 May 1996 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 103 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Quadrangular flag with proportions 1:1, white (albo). In the middle is placed the municipal coat of arms in full colors.
Coat of arms: Gules two castles or per fess in chief two fleurs-de-lis argent per fess in base, a bordure azure with a castle or in base. The shield surmounted with a Royal Spanish crown.
